Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to be perfect.

This is a picture of the sole counter protester at the No Kings protest in Clark Park. I went alone, because I have just moved to Detroit, alone, about a month ago. I have friends in this city, but as of writing this, I have reached out to very few of them. The protest was beautiful. Wherever I went, above me was a mountain, below me was a valley, all of people. My favorite sign belonged to this older gentleman – it read – Elvis is Dead…We Don’t Need Any More Kings! .
